Company description:: The three-day tournament from February 20th to February 22nd 2004 had 32 blue-chip corporates vying with each other for the prestigious Hikal Cup. These include -- Reliance Industries, TATAs, BSNL, Ernst&Young, MTNL, Kotak Mahindra, HSBC, Deolite Haskins, EXIM Bank, HPCL, Hikal, Rabo India and Indian Navy. It may be recalled that Reliance Group were the winners of last year’s Hikal Cup.
Nandan Bal, Davis Cup Capitan & Coach, columnist Anil Dharker played against R.Gopalkrishnan, Executive Director, TATA Sons and Vinod Ramachandran, Former member of Davis Cup Squad, in an exhibition match.
Bombay Gymkhana is the home for tennis in Maharashtra, and perhaps India in as much as Mumbai is the gateway to India. The very first tennis association was set up here in the early 1900’s.
