The prestigious and annual U.S. Open Carpet Oval Championship of radio controlled (RC) car racing will be hosted by and held at Radical Rick’s Race City, located across from the Swansea Mall, on March 12-14. Hosting the super bowl of radio controlled car racing underscores the fact that Radical Rick’s Race City has become one of the premier RC race tracks in the United States.
The U.S. Oval Carpet Championship is sponsored by Associated Electronics, the premier name in RC cars and parts. They have put their reputation on the line – and the best racers from around the country will meet for bragging rights. This major, national event, covers all classes of RC racing and all age levels. There will be a limit of only 200 racers at the event.
The public is encouraged to watch the excitement and spectator admission is free. The public is welcome to the practice session Friday night, March 12 and the official races on Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14th from 9 a.m. on. Stop in and feel the thrill – now you can know what it’s like to hear the announcer say, “Start your engines!”
Hundreds of racers, from the Greater Fall River Area to the West Coast are expected to enter and feel the power and excitement of mini-NASCAR. Included in this will be Radical Rick’s youth team who have been preparing for this big event by competing and training weekly.
The heat turns up with control practice Friday, March 12, qualifying rounds Saturday, and the main events Sunday. ROAR chassis rules apply.
RC racing has become one of the hottest family recreation sports all over the United States and abroad. It appeals to serious competitive racers and to kids just wanting to have fun. And the hottest race tracks in New England are right in Swansea. Radical Rick’s Race City opened across from the Swansea Mall last April, and it hasn’t slowed down yet.
